My Journey Into Junk Journaling ✨ (and how you can start too)
Share
Something you may not know about me is that I love journaling and have done so for a long time! For years, I have made travel journals after every trip that I go on - printing out photos, collecting tickets, postcards and scribbling down memories so that I'd always have something to look back on. But earlier this year after endless scrolling on TikTok, I decided to start junk journaling... and it has changed the way that I create.
What I love about junk journaling is that it doesn't need to be perfect. It can be messy, chaotic, full of scraps, stickers and doodles - and that's what makes it so fun! Unlike traditional scrapbooking or journaling, it is all about using what you have to hand: receipts, packaging, washi tape, tickets, photos - you can seriously use anything. It's all about capturing the moment rather than curating something polished.
For me, this is such a freeing creative outlet. Instead of worrying about making a page look "just right", I just throw everything on the page, add colourful layers and text and somehow it all comes together. I know that in years to come these journals will be the most special keepsakes.
I wanted to help people start their own journaling journey, so I created the Beginners Journaling Pack. Whether you want to start your own junk journal, or maybe a reading or travel journal or literally any other type of journal... this is a great place to start. It contains 1 x Berry picnic notebook, 3 x letter sticker sheets, 1 x star doodle sticker sheet. This pack not only gives you the noteebook to start creating in, but a few stickers to help you create the first few spreads.
Journaling - especially junk journaling - has reminded me that creativity doesn't always have to lead to a finished product or something to sell. Sometimes, it's just about enjoying the process and making something for you.
If you have been curious to start, this is your sign! You don't need to wait for a special occasion - just grab some scraps of paper and some receipts and maybe my beginners pack, and see where it takes you. I promise you will thank yourself later when you flip back through the memories.
