My Journey to Becoming a Part-Time Artist (and why I'm sharing it on Tiktok)
Some ideas start out at quiet thoughts.
Others enter your mind and simply refuse to leave until you do anything about them.
This is very much the second kind.
Over the next 9 months, I'm sharing my journey to becoming a part time artist - balancing my day job, growing Indi Arden, learning as I go, and figuring out what it actually takes to turn a creative passion in something more sustainable.
And I'm sharing it all on TikTok.
Why I'm doing this publicly
I have spent a lot of time in the background slowly growing Indi Arden and during this time I have watched so many other TikTok series of people publicly turning their dreams into passions. I have been so inspired by all these people that I figured maybe I could be the one to inspire other people?!
I've realised that I am not the only one in this situation of trying to carve out creative time around a full time job and by sharing all the ups and downs of this journey, maybe I can make someone else feel less alone.
What is "journey to part time artist?"
Journey to Part Time Artist is a series that I have started on TikTok which showcases the real-life path towards stepping down to part time at my day job and spending more time running Indi Arden.
It's not overnight success, it's a slow journey showcasing
- building sales slowly and intentionally
- learning how to market myself without losing the joy
- showing up consistently even when the motivation drops
- creating products while juggling real life
- being honest about money, time and energy
It's a creatively chaotic plan.
What I'll be sharing along the way

I want to promote healthy slow growth, not hustle culture. The reality is that I have busy day job and it is so important to take time to rest.
Whilst the end goal is to be able to go part time, it is also about proving to myself that this is possible and I can do this!
